Việt Nam là 1 trong 6 nước bị Trung Quốc ban hành lệnh cấm cấp phép du lịch vào Tây Tạng, dù Cục Du lịch Tây Tạng vừa chấp thuận cho phép khách nước ngoài tham quan trở lại sau 1 tháng đóng cửa.

Theo trang mạng Tibetgrouptour.com của nhóm các công ty lữ hành tại Tây Tạng, 6 nước nằm trong danh sách trên gồm Anh, Na Uy, Hàn Quốc, Áo, Philippines và Việt Nam. Tuy nhiên, Trung Quốc không tuyên bố lý do chính thức vì sao đưa ra lệnh cấm. Ngoài ra, chính quyền Tây Tạng vẫn duy trì yêu cầu bắt buộc người nước ngoài phải đi theo nhóm từ 5 người trở lên và cấm du khách lên đỉnh Everest từ đất Tây Tạng.

Theo thống kê của Cục Du lịch Tây Tạng, riêng ngày 10/6/2012, tổng số du khách nước ngoài tới Tây Tạng đã lên tới 1.588 người, đến từ 40 quốc gia.
